tasting notes

Appearance: Translucent deep red colour.
Roses and violets and some cedar on the nose.
The Palate is incredibly soft and luscious with concentrated flavours of roses, loads of cherry, and some plum. It has plenty of weight and a very long finish.

vineyard

Sarsfield Estate Vineyard is located in the Lakes and Wilderness area of East Gippsland, Victoria. Vines and crop levels are carefully managed to produce grapes of the highest quality.

vintage

A warm but very windy spring interfered with pollination and fruit set, causing small bunches. Summer was hot, well above average, and we only got half of our usual rainfall.
The start of vintage had to be delayed due to a very hot spell, and the grapes had started to shrivel slightly. The whole vineyard had to be picked quickly and we finished early, in a rush of work

winemaking

Fermented in small batches, hand plunged and pressed in a traditional basket press. The wine is matured in French oak barriques for 15 months and bottled unfiltered.
Alcohol: 12.7%, TA: 6.6 g/L, pH: 3.54
